| Week of June 22, 2009 Importance of backing up Windows based machines. by Dale Tillman, Service Manager | |
|
Backing up the SRAM on a Windows based machines regularly can save you hours of down time in case of lost memory. Especially in the upcoming summer months when there are lightening storms and or brown outs. Your machine can get hit by a power surge or lose one leg of power during the summer month and when this occurs you could lose vital information and your machine may not function properly. When this occurs we can sometimes just restore the lost information from a backed up copy on your hard drive and you could be back up and running in just a few minutes. If the information you use to restore wasn’t backed up recently you will be restoring old information that could be out dated and a complete recalibration would be required. This could take several hours and may even require a service call. Also if you were to have a failure of the mother
board and it needed to be replaced, the new mother board is reloaded
from the back up SRAM on the hard drive.
So please back up your Windows based machines regularly.
Procedure for backing up SRAM
DO NOT DO A BACK UP IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH YOUR MACHINE. This will back up a bad version of the SRAM and won’t allow us to restore with a good version. |
